We're selling our high quality tandem that's fast, durable and travel ready. Purchased new in 2019, we've made upgrades that enables confident handling on all types of roads, particularly mountain descents where brake overheating can be a serious challenge for the average tandem. And, with couplers, the bike can be disassembled and packed away into its travel case for air travel and overseas tours.
The Synergy starts with the industry’s only seamless double butted titanium tube-set engineered specifically for tandem use. Bilaminate Damping™ is Santana’s term for an advanced adaptation of constrained layer damping. With its Bi-Laminate tubing that adds carbon seat-stays and co-molded carbon/titanium down and bottom tubes for the vibration damping effect of dissimilar materials while maintaining the scratch resistance and durability that makes touring couples choose a titanium frame. The frame delivers the lively magic carpet ride of carbon/titanium but with the confident handling and better power transmission at a lighter weight than the competition’s straight gauge frames.
The rear disk brake on this Synergy has been upgraded with a 10” rotor and a TRP HY/RD hydraulic braking system for superior stopping power and heat management in all-weather conditions. The front caliper brake provides strong additional rim braking. This front configuration, as opposed to a thru axle system, means the bike will work on skewer compatible car racks.
It also has nearly invisible Z-Couplers for easy travel with the included Safecase system. Originally priced at over $15,000. It has an Ultegra Di2 2×11 electronic shifting drivetrain with mid compact gearing: 52/34 x 11/40. It can be modified to use compact chainring gearing instead (not included.) Electronic shifting provides a far more accurate and responsive gear change experience as compared to cable actuated shifting. And, it removes the stress on the captain's hands as compared to pulling the long mechanical cables.
The bike has been ridden 4,600 miles. The wheels are the Spinergy ZLite model with 700x30mm tires.
I believe the bike is a medium size frame. It comfortably fits a 5'11" captain and a 5'6" stoker. The stoker handlebar is a drop bar with brake hood dummies. A bull horn handlebar is available as an alternative.
Pedals and the stoker's saddle are not included.
Asking price is $8900.
The bike is located in Erie, PA. But, because it fits in a case, it is easily shipped. At my asking price I will cover the shipping costs to anywhere in the lower 48 US. I can accept payment via Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.
