This Co-Motion Periscope Trident Convertible has served our family quite well for many years. Our children have moved on from family rides with our “green gator”, so it’s time to pass this bicycle on to the next adventure-lovin’ crew. Whether you’re riding across continents or just for ice cream, this tandem can do it all.

The size large Periscope trident Convertible frame fits a wide range of captains and stokers. It’s currently optimized for a 6 foot 3 inch captain with a 36 inch inseam, but will fit captains down to about 5 foot 7. The stokers have ranged in size from very small to about 5 foot 7 inches. The tandem has been loved and used, so there are some paint chips and wear. But, it has been well-optimized for convenience and performance for grand adventures. Some of the upgrades include:

Davinci Tandem 3 hole cranks (130, 150, 170 mm) for both stokers and 175 mm cranks for the captain.

Co-Motion Max Adjustable stems for all riding positions

X-Shifter wireless shifting for crisp, precise shifting (3x9) on a handlebar mount to optimize shifting and bicycle bell access without moving hands from the hoods.

Custom kick stand to park the bicycle anywhere.

Tubus rear rack for all day adventures and fenders for when the rain tries to spoil the fun.

Cycling computers for all riders. Everyone knows how far yet to go.

Cane Creek long pull brake levers for optimal braking power… No more squishy brakes from the Problem Solver Travel Agents that came as original equipment.

Trailer hitches for both the custom trailer (see below) and a “standard Low budget” Burley-look-alike child carrying trailer (this trailer not included).

So what else does the purchase price get you?

A custom trailer designed to stow away in a duffel bag for “bag portage” tours. We would stow the trailer in a duffel bag that went on a truck to take our luggage to the next destination. Upon our arrival, we could quickly unpack the trailer, set it up, and ride to our campground or motel accommodations will all our luggage.

A custom built second set of wheels (Velocity Cliff Hanger rims and DT540/White Industries Rear Hub 40h, Co-Motion 40h front hub, with cassette and Aria drum brake, Schwalbe Marathon tires). No miles, brand new.

A spare Aria drum brake (3 total drum brakes in package: on bike, on spare wheelset, spare)

Rear seat and foot rest for non-pedaling stoker

Assorted spare parts accumulated over the years of optimization.

For an extra $500 a custom tandem carrier that will allow you to carry the tandem on your standard bar rack (bar spread between 27.25 and 37 inches) without having to remove the front wheel. We traveled across multiple states using this rack mount.

Asking price is $5000.

The bicycle is currently located in southwest Ohio and is available for inspection/local pickup. Else, I can work with the buyer to arrange shipping and handling at purchaser’s expense through a local bicycle shop. Paypal preferred. Pedals not included.
